GTC Receives NAVAIR Award To Develop Digital Twin Technologies for NAVAL Aircrafts To Reduce Life Cycle Costs

Sep. 2020, GTC has received a NAVAIR award and has begun to develop a digital twin of an aircraft sub-system. The digital twin utilizes physics-based models as well as machine learning algorithms to monitor physical asset’s health, detect degradations, and predict future performance. The sub-system of interest, in this project, is an integrated drive generator (IDG), that utilizes engine power to generate electricity to support aircraft electrical loads. Digital twin development in this project will result in the implementation of condition-based/predictive maintenance that helps reduce aircraft life cycle costs and improve mission readiness of aircraft fleets.
