GTC Receives Air Force Award for Nuclear Explosion Monitoring by Using Machine Learning to Process Seismic Signals

July 2019, GTC has received a US Air Force award titled “Machine Learning Methods to Catalog Sources from Diverse, Widely Distributed Sensors.” GTC will adapt its deep learning classification engine to develop an automated deep learning tool that can analyze seismic signal streams from around the globe to detect, locate and classify different seismic events like earthquakes, volcanoes, mining operations, blasts, etc. The solution being developed will reduce workload for analysts in manually processing seismic waveforms.
